Thumper was a very special skunk. He was born with only three legs, so he was my little handicapped skunk. He was rescued at the age of six weeks when his mother was run over by a car. He had to be bottle-fed for a couple of weeks, but grew into a healthy adult. His handicap didn't even slow him down much. I named him Thumper because of his habit of stomping his one little front foot when he was mad, a common skunk characteristic. It was always cute to see, but he did grow out of this habit as he grew older, probably because he was always content. Thumper was neutered and descented and lived his life as a happy "house skunk". He bonded very well to me, and didn't really care for strangers.
