Spencer Family

I was recently contacted by a first cousin, once removed, named Mark Spencer of London Ontario. Mark provided me quite a bit of additional detail of the family of my mother's father, James Spencer, so I decided to devote a separate page to the Spencer family.

As noted on Keating and Anderson page, my grandmother, Elizabeth Catherine Keating (b. Nov. 15, 1897 - d. Sep. 26, 1986) married James Craswell (or Creswell) Spencer (b. Mar. 26, 1891 - d. Dec. 24, 1964). James Spencer was one of nine children of Charles Humphrey Spencer and Elizabeth Catherine Craswell (or Creswell). They were:

  1. Frederic Charles Henry born in the parish of Walworth, London, England on July 12, 1868;
  2. George John Richard born in the parish of St. Georges in East London, England on October 16, 1869;
  3. Catherine Margaret born in the Township of Torah, Ontario on October 6, 1871;
  4. Albert Arthur born in the Township of Thorah, Ontario on 1 October 1873;
  5. Anetta (i.e. "Netty") Elizabeth born in the Township of Thorah, Ontario on March 28, 1876;
  6. Eliza Clara born in the Township of Thorah, Ontario on December 6, 1878;
  7. Maude born in the Township of Thorah, Ontario on August 12, 1881;
  8. Charles Henry James born in the village of Beaverton, Ontario on March 7, 1884; and
  9. James Craswell (or Creswell) born in the village of Beaverton, Ontario on Mar. 26, 1891.
