When she hears that Canadian teen sensations, the Moffatts, are coming to Sarnia, her scream could do some damage.
Tickets go on sale at 10 am today at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Center for a July 3rd show by Canada’s entry in teen music empire populated by groups like ‘N Sync, BSB and Hanson.
Sixteen-year-old guitarist Scott Moffatt and his year younger triplet brothers Bob, Dave and Clint have sold more than a million copies of their album Chapter 1: A New Beginning. They were also nominated for 2 Juno Awards.
Their hit song Until You Loved Me was included on the soundtrack to Drew Barrymore’s film Never Been Kissed and the other singles I’ll Be There For You and Girl Of My Dreams, have helped stir up a storm of popularity for the group.
The brothers first appeared on stage in their hometown of Victoria in 1990 and spent several years singing country music.
They moved to Nashville for several years, toured the Osmonds, sold a quarter of a million copies of a country music album and played more than a thousand concerts. Then a couple of years ago, they switched to pop music and quickly became teen idols.
More than 2 000 teen and pre teens mobbed a Nova Scotia mall in April when the brothers made an afternoon appearance before a concert.
Earlier 6000 people showed up when the group made an appearance at a Wal-Mart in Hamilton.
The $26 dollar tickets to Sarnia’s show were originally scheduled to go on sale Friday but the date was pushed back a day. Mike Barron, sponsorship and marketing executive for the center, said a few people showed up at the Box Office Friday, even though he had to put the word out that the sale date was postponed.
That and other signs of Moffatt-mania are already beginning to appear. "We got a couple hundred calls," Barron said. "It’s going to be a great all ages performance."
The show is set to begin at 8 p.m. with an opening act still to be confirmed.
