Is the devil real? Are demons real? Do they have supernatural power?

Let's see what the Bible has to say.

* Revelation 12:7-12- And there was war in heaven: Michael (the Archangel) and His angels (faithful angels) fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels (unfaithful, fallen angels, also called demons when on earth), and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, 'which deceiveth the whole world': he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night". And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (The Devil is working overtime to keep us from life everlasting with our Creator. For those who say and teach that the Devil does not attack you if you are a professed Christian; then I ask them, " What good does it do him to attack those he already has? Even though he does do that to keep them down, his greatest efforts are against those who believe or are being worked on by the Holy Spirit to believe. {Luke 8:12- Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.} He is in a battle, a tug of war, you might say, against God, to take as many of God's children as he can in the time that he has. And you better believe he is doing all he can to accomplish his goal. He still has supernatural powers, as do his demons (the fallen angels who believed his lies about God and were thrown down, out of heaven, with him.)

* Eph. 4:27- Neither give place to the devil.

* Eph. 6:11-18- Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.(this means Satan has more power than man alone, but not more than man with God). Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

* 2 Tim. 2:26- And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

* James 4:7- Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

* 1 John 3:8- He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

* John 6:70- Jesus amswered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

* John 8:44- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for the is a liar, and the father of it.

* John 13:2- And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

* Jude 9- Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.(this is referring to a misunderstood doctine and event of Moses's death. Moses was in perfect health when he died, but God took him in His timing for reasons I can't go into now because it would get us off the subject at hand. Moses died and God buried him, however it was Jesus's plan to resurrect Moses right away instead of at the second coming, as it will be for most of us. And Satan, the devil, didn't like this plan and contended with Michael for Moses to stay and rot in the grave.) (go to "the state of the dead" link below for correct doctrine on this.)

* Deuteronomy 32:17- They sacrificed unto devils, not to GOD; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

* Matthew 17:18- And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.

* Luke 9:1- Then He called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

* Luke 10:17- And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

* I Corinthians 10:21- Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils; ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. (some may use this to say, "once you accept Jesus the devil has no power over you anymore". This is not at all what this verse is referring to. It is saying, You cannot say you are a follower of Christ and a believer of the Creator God, and act like the 'world'. Whenever you are not sure of a single scripture, go back and read the whole chapter. This will usually clarify things.

* James 2:19- Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

* James 3:14-16- But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
