One Wire, Self Exciting Alternators

Howdy! Welcome to our one-wire alternator page! Not all alternators are created alike. For the past fifteen years we've been building "self-exciting" alternators. After speaking with folks from different parts of the country, I found out that this type of alternator is just not available everywhere. I took it upon myself to make it so.



You might be wondering "what is a one-wire alternator?". Well,just as the name implies,it is an alternator that requires only one "hot" wire from the battery or ammeter to function.No other wiring or external voltage regulators are necessary!(but you can hook up an indicator light if you desire)They are great to replace bad generators on older cars and tractors and are often used to "clean up" the underhood wiring on street rods. We start with a standard Delco-Remy 10 or 12 SI series alternator "core". Each unit is disassembled and the housings, rotors, stators, and rectifiers are cleaned and fully tested for defects. We then reassemble them with all NEW bearings,brushes, a special self-exciting voltage regulator, and any other new parts that may be necessary. We offer 6,8,12,& 24 Volt units in either positive or negative ground[click here to see the difference], Our hottest selling unit is the 12 volt low speed cut-in model. We build them especially for tractors and industrial equipment that have governed RPM. These units "turn on" at a very low rpm, allowing care free operation at any engine speed unlike a lot of so-called "tractor alternators" that sell for as much as $89.00 and only excite at full throttle!(and sometimes not even then!) We can build an alternator for just about any application you can imagine-feel free to inquire!!

NEW! SUPER LOW CUT-IN Unit! We are building a run of 22 amp units with a super low cut-in speed,plus they produce maximum output at a very low RPM. Possible applications include low rpm power units (that never increase engine speed above idle), and alternative power supplies such as wind generators,pedal powered generators and water mills.We also take extra measures to ensure the weather resistance of these units to make future disassembly possible.
