Paul, who penned these words to his Christian friends at Phillipi while in prison, had reason to forget what was behind-he had held the coats of those who stoned Stephen, the first Christian martyr. He also knew his life passion to know Christ intimately. That goal absorbed Paul. Closer believes in Paul's timeless passion to get "closer" to their Savior.
Closer has a three-fold mission:
1) As individuals who make up a public ministry, our foremost desire is to be devoted to Christ in our individual lives (Job 11:13-18). We believe in the infallible truth of God's word and its application to our lives (Colossians 3:16), the power and neccesity of prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17), the leading of the Holy Spirit and its indwelling (John 6:63), the worldwide mission of evangelism (Matthew 28:20), and genuine, authentic, God-honoring worship (John 4:23).
2) As a group, we seek to effectively use the spiritual gifts the Lord has blessed us with to further His advancing Kingdom through the art of music (1 Peter 4:20, Ephesians 5:19). Involved in this is a vivid call to evangelistically bring people to knowledge of the saving grace of God and to edify the body of Christ through song (1 Peter 3:15).
3) As a Southern Gospel ministry, we are committed to staying rooted in what has made southern gospel music, southern gospel music. We also have a deep desire to bring a new fresh and exciting perspective to this arena (Psalm 96:1)
