This is the Sigma Sport BC800. It has speed readout, trip distance, clock, odometer, riding time, max speed, average speed, and comparison.
I mounted the unit on the handle bars, and the sensor on the origional speedo cable. I bought a bigger magnet from radio shack (1/2 in dia) and duct taped it on the spokes. I was in a hurry at the time, and just wanted to get it working and calibrated before my camping trip. It works fine. But I meet a guy on a ST1100 that had a similar setup, and he had the magnet glued in one of the holes in the brake rotor, not in the way of the brake pads, but closer to the axel. And the sensor mounted on the fork. I might try that. Then the whole thing would be hidden behind my disk protector.
The wire going to the sensor was not long enough either. Somebody sells a kit with longer wires, but it cost too much for a poor boy like me. So, I marked one side of the wire with a marker, and cut the wires. And used similar guage wires to make the appropriate length for this application. I crimped some little doodadas on the wires, and shrinked wrapped them for good luck.
It is nice to have a clock, and an extra odometer. The sigma speedometer is more accurate than the stock unit.
I know this because I have a gps too. But I only use it on trips, the sigma is there everytime.
