Tools S.O.S

Okay, now this varies from witch to witch. I'll give you a rundown on all the basic tools, tell you a bit about what they're used for and what I think of them:

* The Chalice. Represents water, and so is great for the Magick Circle. Also good for mixing herbs and potions, so I would recommend having one. Is traditionally a fancy goblet- but a small-ish bowl, or wine glass will do brilliantly

* Candles. Represent fire and are present in pretty much all spells. I think personally they absolutely ROCK and more can be found on their uses (volumes and volumes can be written about candle magick) in the Magick section if the site. If you are not allowed to use candles then don't despair. They serve the purpose of creating mood, but they're not a necessity. Just work around it by using low wattage bulbs etc.

* Gems. Represent earth. Never underestimate the power of gems. I remember I took a Jasper gem with me to a party so I wouldn't be self conscious, forgot about it- and it was only afterwards after I'd got up an sang Kareoke and made a huge fool of myself that I realised it was due to being under the influence of gems. Full list of the best gems coming up, but make sure you head down to your local weirdy shop (Macouti are good), and pick up some. It's not a case of the bigger the better, because all gems have equal power. Stick them places where you need there influence most, or carry with you. I love them.

*Herbs. Represent earth. Something I've only just gotten into seeing as I'm a teenager and I don't exactly have a huge herb garden. Better when harvested fresh, but lets face it- who is really has the time in between studying and ogling boys to buy, plant, grow and care for millions of herb plants. Seriously. Check out your mums herbs and see if you can borrow some. Full list of Herbs and there uses coming up in the Magick page.

* Talismans, Amulets. Don't know quite what they represent lol. Check out the page here for further details.

* Salt is vital for all witches as it's used in spell after spell after spell and creates sacred space.

Other than that I can't see any need for any more. You'll hear talk of Athames, Wands, Brooms and Cauldrons- but unless your extremely rich, they're not exactly practical and plus- you don't really need them! The most important tool is you!

Things you might like to have in constantly which I find that I need constantly are :

* Tea lights. You can get about ten billion for a quid in some places- and no, I'm not Americanised so I don't know how many dollars that would be!

* Cord- good for, erm, cord magick. See Magick pages yet again.

* Pennies- good for prosperity spells.

* Sea shells. Good for all spells so the goal with 'flow to you' as they represent water. Also good as offerings to Spirit. Click here for more info (you'll need it!) A Very Important Tool that all Witches should have:
