Welcome

Welcome to the Trivia page! This page DID have questions on it, but due to my sheer laziness and the fact that I couldn't really be bothered going out to find things to ask questions about, they're gone now. Of course, if you have any you'd like to ask the masses send it to me and I'll be more than happy to add it here. That said, it's still got plenty of little-known facts to impress your friends with! Once again I can't do it alone, so of course I would love for you to email me with any bits of information you may have.

Cameos

Many people know that Belle appeared in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" during the song "Out There". However, it's less well-known that the Magic Carpet, Pumbaa, and Carlotta from the Little Mermaid also had a cameo in this movie.
In Aladdin, Sebastian appeared as part of the Genie's "Alaskan King Crab" recipe, and when the Sultan was making a tower of figures, one figure was the Beast (as in, "Beauty and the".)

Scar appeared in Hercules as a rug! And Mrs Potts and Chip were in Tarzan's "Trashin' the Camp", in a really obvious cameo. If you know of any other cameos send them to me.

In Hercules, two animators were featured as a caricature of themelves in the marketplace, and provided their own voices! (The things you learn reading "Disney Adventures"...) Also, the shop next to The Hercules Store is Aphrodite's Secret. There's another one on the other side which apparentely means something to American people, but I certainly don't get it ...!

I've just been sent some more cameos. Diznenut informs me "Jock (Lady and The Tramp), as well as the bulldog from the pound, make appearances in '101 Dalmatians' and 'Oliver & Company'. Lady is also in '101 Dalmations', but she's hard to spot. (Was that pun intentional?!)

Park Trivia

This was sent to me from Diznenut (see the Penpal page): In Disneyland, painted on one of the windows is 'Contractor, Elias Disney' in honor of Walt's father. Anyone out there know any more theme park trivia? I know that the car park to Disneyland is/was bigger than the actual theme park (put your hand up if you're REALLY looking forward to California Adventure, which I got some cool photos of the construction of during my last visit to Disneyland; they'll be here when my scanner decides to work again) and anyone know how many toilets there are in the Magic Kingdom? 43! (Very useful because after all, someone always asks how many toilets there are at the Magic Kingdom during casual conversation ...)

Voice Trivia

Did you know Mickey Mouse was voiced by Walt Disney up until the movie 'Fun and Fancy Free'? He was the only one with a speaking part in "Fantasia", despite the number of new characters introduced. Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in "the Little Mermaid" (as well as the TV show and upcoming sequel) also provided the voice for Barbie in "Toy Story 2", as well as the Robot (Weebo??) in "Flubber". The guy who voiced Sebastian later played Mufasa in the Lion King on Broadway.

Tony Jay (Frollo) also voices Shere Khan in "Tailspin". Lea Salonga, the singing voice of Jasmine, was also the singing voice for Mulan. I believe she also sang a version of 'Circle of Life' or 'Can you Feel the Love Tonight' or something for "The Lion King", but it didn't end up in the film.

Mel Gibson was the voice of John Smith in "Pocahontas". In the sequel, "Journey to a New World", his brother Donal provided John's voice. If anyone out there hates the ending to that sequel as much as I do, email me, or write it in the forum or something and we'll talk!

During auditions for the role of Quasimodo in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", animators studied pictures of Quasi instead of looking at the actors so they wouldn't be swayed by the actors' looks. Tom Hulce ended up getting the role. Jason Alexander, from the Return of Jafar, played Hugo the Gargoyle. The woman who voiced Laverne (I believe her name was Mary Wickes?) died during the making of the film, and was replaced by another woman. She was also in "Sister Act".

Paul Winchell, Tigger, was a voice in "The Aristocats", and John Fiedler, AKA Piglet, was the little hedgehog dude in "Fox and the Hound".

Susan Egan, AKA Megara from "Hercules", also played Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

As well as being Tantor, Wayne Knight had a small role in "Hercules", and provided the voice of Al in "Toy Story 2". Glenn Close, Cruella from the live action "101 Dalmatians", was Kala.

Got a burning question that you don't know the answer to? Send it in and if I don't know the answer, I'll post it here and maybe someone out there will!

Miscel Triv

Also sent to me by Diznenut ... As you know Lillian Bounds {Walt's wife} was an Ink & Paint girl, but did you know that she saved her future husband from bankruptcy by not cashing her weekly paycheck of $15 for quite some time ...
