CANNIBALISM IN THE MOVIES
Here are a few movies which contain cannabalism scenes. Some of them are not necessarily "classified" or "catagorized" as horror films. If you're into these particular types of movies, check out your local video store. You may just get lucky! Click on a link below to view the cover box.
Bloodsucking Freaks - USA (1976) 88 min. REED, ROEL M.
This solid cult classic outgrosses Herschell Gordon Lewis' THE WIZARD OF GORE by a long shot! Although BLOODSUCKING FREAKS (a.k.a. THE INCREDIBLE TORTURE SHOW) can only be regarded as a satire for hardcore horror fans, the film was banned in the U.S. following protest by Women Against Pornography. Shot in 'Ghoulovision'.

CANNIBALISM
|
The practice of eating human flesh, found among some peoples of Africa,
South America, the South Pacific islands, and the West Indies. Victims
for rites of life- or power-transfer are usually sought among alien
groups, although some peoples eat part of a kinsman's corpse as a
gesture of respect for the deceased. HEAD-HUNTING may have evolved from
cannibalism. Cannibalism has also occurred among isolated groups
desperate to survive. Cannibalism is believed to have prevailed until recent times in central and western Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Melanesia, Sumatra, New Guinea, Polynesia, and remote parts of South America. In some cultures, it was believed that the person who ate the dead body of another would acquire the desired qualities of the person eaten. It was even believed that an enemy's spirit would be utterly destroyed if the body were eaten, thus leaving nothing in which the ghost could live. Cannibalism was sometimes part of a religious practice. The Binderwurs of central India ate their sick and aged in the belief that the act was pleasing to their goddess Kali. In Mexico thousands of human victims were sacrificed and eaten annually by the Aztecs. Among Western peoples cannibalism is rare, although starvation has sometimes driven humans to eat the flesh of other humans.

ALFERD PACKER
|
One sure way to gain immortality -- no matter how hopeless your social and monetary strata is to eat somebody else. The man who did this best was Colorado's Alferd Packer, and the Centennial State has accordingly embraced Alferd to its mountainous bosom. He is celebrated in song, in musicals, and in a string of sights along Colorado's Cannibal Trail. In 1874, Packer polished off five fellow prospectors in a mid-winter munchy fit.
