Biography
Edward Norton James Jr was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on august,
18th 1969. He spent most of his childhood outside Columbia, Maryland,
where his father, Edward Norton Senior, worked as an attorney, and his mother,
Robin Norton, as a teacher (deaceded in 1997). Norton has two syblings, a brother and a sister, both younger than him. He manifested
a particular interest in acting since a very young age. Still, he majored in history
from Yale where he also took
acting classes. After a year in Japan, he went back to the States and settled in New York, where he made
his first steps on the stage. He performed many play with the Signature Theatre Company, performing many plays such as Fragment,
by Edward Albee, or Brian Friel's Lovers. It is in 1996 that Edward
Norton appears for the first time on the silver screen in an amazing thriller
: Primal Fear, starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney. This first performance
in a motion picture brought him to be the winner of a golden globe for
best supporting actor. Two years later, Norton is nominated at the Oscars for his performance in American History X, where he
incarnated a skinhead. In 2000, Norton passes behind the camera for Keeping The Faith, a romantic comedy he co-wrote his an old friend, produced, and in which he also had a supporting role.
Yet to be realised, Red Dragon is Norton's latest film. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Norton and Ralph Fiennes, this film is the third from the Hannivbal Lecter series, started in 1988 by The Silence of the Lambs.
Red Dragon Will be in theatres on Octobre, 12th, 2002.
