Psycho
Based on: Ed Gein
The Connection: The main connection between Ed Gein and Psycho is the fact Robert Bloch, the novel's author created Norman bates based on Gein, but not on the facts. I didn't read the book, but with the movie the only connection I see is both Gein and Bates had an unhealthy obsession with their dead mothers, that were strong religious figures. It seems Gein also used to play his mother's role and had her room like a kind of sanctuary.
