Soft,
sensuous and cool that's what every woman is looking for. |
The correct application of
make-up will enhance your features, it will highlight the right portions, hide subtle
flaws, and define what needs to be defined. Sure, natural beauty is everything, but if
your natural beauty can be highlighted in the right way, then it's everything...and more! Highlight When you are highlighting a portion of your face you can use colours just one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. However you must make sure the base colour is the same. For example, if you have a yellow base colour in your natural skin tone, the products you use should have a yellow base colour as well. Highlighting basically brings out certain features in your face, creating contours where they are needed. Portions to highlight
Low-light (shade) Low-lighting or shading is to use a colour one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone. This is usually done to give definition to your natural bone structure. Again, the base colour of your products should be the same as the base colour of your natural skin tone. Portions to Low-light (shade)
The key to successfully highlighting and shading is to blend well. Use your fingertips, a contour brush or a sponge, depending on whether your products are in cream, powder or liquid form, and blend well (but gently!). Practice in daylight at home, before venturing out, until you perfect it. You will know you're applying your make-up correctly when you see your face looking better than it ever has before. |
Basic lip painting
techniques: Line your inner
lip-line to make your lips look smaller; line your outer lip-line to make your lips look
bigger; highlight the centre portion of your lips (with a lighter colour, a frosted colour
or a lip-gloss) to create a pout. Here are some more exaggerated looks for a daring
difference: |
Regular: | A basic well-rounded and symmetrically shaped mouth
Bow-shaped: | Very dramatic and very feminine; the curves are drawn inside the natural lip-line in the corners of the mouth, and outside in the centre
The Smear: | Sliding outside the peaks on the top portion of the lips, very Joan Crawford
Full: | This look is very Naomi Campbell - there are no peaks on the top lip. The lips are full, whole and voluptuous
Naturally pointed: | The all-too-perfect natural lips
Marilyn glamour: | The top lip is over exaggerated to heighten its sensuality
Bee-sting: | Very early '20's - literally looks like a bee-sting |
LEHANGA
Women's one of favourite dresses is a form of pleated skirt known as the ghagra or lehanga. This skirt is secured at the waist. The heads are however covered by a length of fine cotton known as orhni or dupatta. Mostly brides wear this dress on their wedding day.
SALWAR KAMEEZ
Another popular attire of women in Pakistan is the salwar-kameez. This dress evolved as a comfortable and respectable garment for women in Kashmir and Punjab, but is now immensely popular in all regions of Pakistan. Salwars are pyjama-like trousers drawn tightly in at the waist and the ankles. Over the salwars, women wear a long and loose tunic known as a kameez. One might occasionally come across women wearing a churidar instead of a salwar. A churidar is similar to the salwar but is tighter fitting at the hips, thighs and ankles. Over this, one might wear a collarless or mandarin-collar tunic called a kurta. |
MEN'S DRESS
Though the majority of Pakistan women wear traditional costumes, the men in Pakistan can be found in more conventional western clothing. Shirts and trousers are worn by men from all regions in Pakistan. However, men in villages are still more comfortable in traditional attire like kurtas, lungis, dhotis and pyjamas.
The traditional lungi originated in the south and today it is worn by men and women alike. It is simply a short length of material worn around the thighs rather like a sarong. A dhoti is a longer lungi but with an additional length of material pulled up between the legs. Pyjama-like trousers worn by the villagers are known as the lenga.
Pakistani dressing styles are marked by many variations, both religious and regional and one is likely to witness a plethora of colors, textures and styles in garments worn by the Pakistanis.
