Whitetail Deer Hunting Tips
Tips
- Research- Study the deer in your area. Hunt a different food plot every day, until you learn how the deer move in the area.
- Hunt- Hunt high because the deer will be less likely to smell or see you. Look for scrapes and rubs along trails or in a broad area of land. Before hunting the scrape, pour buck urine on the scrape, hunt it 1-3 days later in a climbing tree stand using antlers and a buck call. The side of the trail inwich a buck has made a rub, is the side it is coming from.
- Eat-Once you have killed the deer, field dress it and your ready to make quality deer jerky. You need a dehydrator to cook the meat, using about a pound or two of meat(tendorloin), marinate it in Soy Sauce,Worcestershire Sauce, and Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning, Marinate for 6-12 hours, dehydrate for 6-12 hours. Store in the refridgerater when done to preserve it longer.
- Notes: As a reminder the gun season for deer ends January, 19 and marks the beginning of the bow season, which ends January 31! I will keep my site updated during the off-season with tips in scouting and any law changes!
