    Chapter 7: This is Halloween
Ghosts flew through the dark streets singing the haunted song of their city while the citizens of Halloween Town celebrated the night they were made for. October 31st had finally come in all it's glory and much to the delight of everyone. Lock, Shock, and Barrel had been forbidden to go out that night, however they had somehow escaped their new guardians, the resident vampires, and were found playing tricks through out the night. They had made it a priority to stay as far away as possible from the central party in town square which was no doubt where Jack was going to be. Jake had been spending the last two weeks, which was a school holiday in their world, perfecting what he could of his frightful abilities. In other words, the three sibling pranksters were staying away from him aswell. It was going to take awhile for Jake to get a hang of everything, but it was a priority, now that he had been promised a visit to the Mortal World as soon as possible. Luke had actually started looking up to his older brother, wanting to tag along with him everywhere. Apparently Jake's new abilities came with his annoying brother as the price, oh well. Cindy was in compition with Jake now that there was something to compete agianst and was going to make she was included in that trip over to the Mortal World. So things settled back to... well, normal. Jack had gone back to the portals, with Zero, a week before Halloween and the Christmas doorway was normal again, no doubt because all the negative power caused by Oogie Boogie was gone. Now there was only one thing left to think about. Counting Lock, Shock, and Barrel, there were eight people in Halloween Town who knew how to find the holiday portals. No one could bring themselves to suggest destroying the doorways to prevent anything like this from happening again. They would just have to be ready for it if it did. After all, life's no fun without a good scare.
