We lived in a caricature of a family
Characterized by paradox:
We lived like a mouse under glass
And like a bug in a box.
Haunted and scrutinized,
Attacked and then dropped,
Never knowing what would come next,
What battle would need to be fought.
It's too much to think about,
This confusing and scattered life of mine,
When I'm confronted with too many aspects at once,
I struggle not to run away and hide.
I want to see, know and understand,
But I'm overwhelmed
By what floods into my oversensitized mind.
