Until her untimely death at age 23, Selena was the sexy and charismatic 'Queen of Tejano.
'Tejano music is a South Texas creation which uses guitars and accordions to blend Mexican music
with European polkas and waltzes. Dreaming of You, her final album, was released posthumously in the early summer.
The album went straight to the number one spot on the Billboard chart and sold over a million copies.

"A Light in the Dark – La Magia De Selena” brings the magic of the incomparable
Selena Quintanilla-Perez, the “Queen of Tejano Music,” to life on stage at the California Theatre.

Using events from her life, along with the memories of people with something special
to say, who have loved and admired her, each memory belongs to a
voice and each voice we hear sparks a recollection that unfolds and lead us to
her music that is woven together with video and photo montages.

From her early hit "Baila Esta Cumbia" to the crossover sensation "I Could Fall in Love,"
Selena's clear range of style is powerful and exciting. Songs she sang as a child
blend with her songs of love like "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" and "Amor Prohibido,"
and songs of love blend with songs of heartbreak like "No Me Queda Mas" and "Fotos y Recuerdos."

The climax of "A Light in the Dark” is an all-out celebration of the energy
and talent that was Selena. Fans of her music will love the mix of her hit singles and
live covers, and new fans will be made through innovative arrangements of the music.

The cast of "A Light in the Dark" offers more than a tribute to the star.
They offer a chance for Selena's legacy to expand; a chance to see
her influence on the music of today, fulfilled.
