Griz Prusik grew up in a tiny picturesque harbor town isolated along Lake Huron's rocky shoreline. There, tall stately lighthouses, storm-tossed freighters and old fishermen's tales planted the imaginative seeds the would later grow into the haunting maritime ballads that Griz has become well-known for today.
Griz has appeared at Pow Wows, Shipping & Lighthouse Festivals, Art Fairs and Concert Halls all the way from the rugged shipwrecked shores of Lake Superior, to the quiet Manatee-haunted rivers and coves of Tampa Bay.
Having written over 300 songs and with 7 CDs to his credit, Griz has also performed his unique style of music throughout Canada, Ireland and Great Britain with album sales as far away as New Zealand.
"A veteran of television and radio, Griz draws inspiration from both his Anishnaabe and Irish backgrounds, weaving dramatic lyrical webs that capture our ancient whispers, speaking of ghostly loves, historical longings and hidden secret places.
The rhythms of his songs, much like the rhythms of the sea, carry you away on rolling musical waves that are sometimes gentle and soothing, and at other times powerful and frightening."
