Nathan's Life

Nathan was born on April 1 , 1978. He was my second child and weighed 9 lbs. when he was born. He has an older sister named Hope and a younger sister named Tenee'. Nathan was a very sweet and happy baby. He would play in his crib for hours without fussing.

The only way I can explain his personality when he was younger was content with everything. He was an above average student in school and got bored very quickly which at times caused him trouble. If he were bored he became the class clown. Nathan loved baseball and baseball cards. He played little league ball for 6 years and the year he was killed he was on the Lehigh Little League All Stars.

Every time Nathan got money he bought baseball cards. I have 39 shoe boxes and 10 albums full of cards he had collected. Nathan adored his younger sister. He would take he every where he went and had built her a tree house the year before he died in the empty field across the street from our house. He was involved in Drama at school and loved putting on a show. I am lucky enough to have his last play on tape and he had the lead part in the upcoming play that he never made it to. The drama class dedicated the play to him and all said a silent prayer on the stage after the performance two weeks after his death.

Nathan was a very special person and had touched many lives in his short time on earth. He loved smaller children and would play with them after school at a school function while their parents visited with teachers or volunteered at a function. His next love was animals. I remember one special time when he had mowed grass for a neighbor and been paid and he asked me to run him to the store and he and bought cat food. When I said why he said you'll see take me over behind a store that was just down the street. I did as he asked and he got out of the car and all these wild baby and adult cats came out from hiding and he opened the bag of food for them and walked back to the car smiling saying "Mom they were hungry."

Nathan lost his life on Feb 9.1992 , he was only thirteen years old.

I Hear Each Tear Fall On Her Face

My Mom doesn't know I'm watching her
but I'm watching her just the same.
And I hear each tear fall on her face
at the very mention of my name.

She says it sounds like music to her ears
and can be heard over a crowd.
Oh, I hear each tear fall on her face
when my name is said aloud.

I watch her stumble through each day
as she wishes the day would end.
And I hear each tear fall on her face
as she talks of me to her friends.

But there are few who truly understand.
Oh this I've heard her proclaim.
And I hear each tear fall on her face.
Will my Mom ever be the same?

I know that her smiles light up a sky.
But I don't see that smile today.
Oh, but I hear each tear fall on her face.
Her blue skies have turned to gray.

Oh I send to her my warmest hug
with the rays of the morning sun.
Then, I won't hear a tear fall on her face.
For I shall erase them one by one.

Yes, my Mom doesn't know I'm watching her.
But I'm watching her just the same.
And if I hear a tear fall on her face
I'll just softly whisper her name!
