Romeo- Chapter 2

“If you got to know the real me, you’d know what I was really like. Then you could decide for yourself. And maybe you’d stop making snap judgments.”

Juliet was amazed at his ability to stay so calm. guys always went off on her when she gave them an attitude. “What if I don’t want to get to know you?” Juliet dared as she grabbed her bag out of the car.

“Well obviously you are staying here. Why don’t you accompany me up to my room so I can find you some backstage passes to my concert tonight. I know you have no will to go, and you’d never go, not even if your life depended on it, but I want to prove you wrong so badly. Whaddaya say?!” As Justin grinned at the look of disbelief on her face, her prided himself on his cleverness. He really wanted to prove her wrong. Then he saw the embarrassment on her face. “what?” he asked cautiously.

“Nothing!” She was not going to admit that she had tickets to his concert; why give him the pride. “Why should I go?”

“Why shouldn’t you? Come on let’s go because I know that I am wasting your time!” Justin began walking towards the side entrance of the hotel, turned and glanced at the confused girl. “Coming?!” he asked with a wide smile on his face.

“Yeah, unfortunately!” She got up, closed the door on the can, and slung her bag over her shoulder. When Justin held the door open for her she stepped aside and used the other. ‘What a girl’ Justin thought. She seemed to have good self-esteem, but Justin knew that deep down she was afraid of something. She seemed to be so defensive and guarded. He wanted to be the one to find out what was wrong. He wanted to figure out this girl.

The two soon arrived at Justin and the groups suite. “Here we are. 721. Home Sweet Home.” Justin welcomed warmly as Juliet stared at him with disgust in her eyes. “Enter at your own risk” he added as she stepped inside. Juliet stepped in and looked around. It was fit for a king.

“Nice Joint!” She added, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Justin raised his eyebrows in mockery. “Well I am one of the most attractive, most sexually desired teen idols in the world. I do deserve the best,” he proclaimed while pretending to buff his nails. He glanced at Juliet to find her with her mouth hanging open in disbelief.

“I’m kidding geez!!!” Justin threw his hands in the air in defeat. Juliet took down her hair and ran her fingers through it anxiously.

“All right-well get the passes. I need to get going. I have better places to go, better people to see.”

“Chill...I’m looking” Justin walked into the next room in search of the passes.

Juliet turned as she heard voices enter the room. A man bearing multi-colored dreads and a fubu jersey walked in with a green eyed man with white blonde hair. Justin came into the room holding the passes. He noticed that the girl’s face seemed to brighten as Lance entered the room. A short stab of jealousy entered him because lance had gotten the reaction that he wanted so badly.

“Justinnnnnnn” the dread man whined in a childlike manner, “We told you not to bring axe-murderers into the room. Don’t you know not to talk to strangers?” He asked the brown-haired girl standing in the middle of the room looking somewhat impatient.

“I-”

“Ignore him” Lance interrupted quietly. “I’m Lance” He stuck his hand out. “And you are?”

“Leaving just as soon as Justin gives me those backstage passes.” Juliet smiled warmly at Lance. She felt he was the only member of the group who had a shred of personality left.

“Here ya go. Enjoy!” Justin ceremoniously handed Juliet the passes. And she promptly stuffed them into the pocket of her grimy sweatpants. ‘She really is a trip’ Justin thought. Juliet turned and tossed her hair behind her. She opened the door and threw her good-byes over her shoulder. “Bye Justin....It’s been real. Maybe I’ll see ya tonight. That is, if my self-respect goes down low enough for me to go. Ta-Ta!” She slid out the door as Justin called for her.

“Wait!”

Juliet turned, exasperated.

“what’s your name little lady?” Justin asked with a southern twang. He knew it would annoy her even more, but he just had to do it.

“If you must know, it is Juliet. Now I’ve wasted enough time. I’ll see ya around. Maybe.” She added quickly turning out the door. Chris and Lance looked quizzically at Justin who was running for the door. He threw it open and yelled down the hallway.

“Hey, Juliet, Where’s Romeo?!”

He couldn’t resist.

Juliet turned at the sound of that name. A nickname that she had used on the one that she loved hundreds of times. She tried to mask a look of hurt but did not succeed. “He’s at his house smashing what is left of my heart into even smaller remains. He does it day and night.”

Justin watched her walk away with a look of pure shock on his face. Lance came up from behind him and patted Justin on the back. “You’ve got it bad man!” He told Justin. “And you’re in for it!”

“I know and I can’t wait to be in deeper,” Justin replied staring after the retreating figure. “I can’t wait.”
