Different Style....
Eclectic, soulful, rock, jazz, worshipful... All these words easily identify Ardent artists, All Together Separate. They are all about diversity: culturally and musically, yet with one unified purpose - 'to lead people into a closer relationship with Christ.' Their record producer, Skidd Mills, summed it up by saying, "I'm realizing that there are three strong facets to ATS. Their recording, their live performance and their ministry. I love the record we made, but to see them play and minister live. . . now that is amazing." All Together Separate plays with a realness that has nothing to prove, and nothing to lose. The four-some of Dex Alexander, Andrew Shirley, Charles Rumahlewang and Ben Rayls got together at California Baptist University in Riverside. They led worship for a student-led bible study. From there they began developing their own music and style, while being led by God to commit their lives to his service.
Just for God...
The last two years has been good. They have been ministering to thousands of young people at scores of winter and summer camps, as well as youth rallies like, 'See Ya at the Pole,' Student Leadership Conferences, opening for 'the O.C. Supertones' and performing at the Southern Baptist Youth Convention last New Years' Eve. They have recently signed a recording contract with Ardent Records and will be touring with Big Tent Revival later this year. Above is a picture of them with Big Tent Revival.
A new kind of music...
If All Together Separate were to be limited to a style or genre, they would find themselves somewhere between alternative and cutting edge contemporary Christian with inflections of funk, blues and solid groove.
Yet, their sole purpose is to serve God, worship him with all their hearts, and show others how to do the same.
