Hi there!
Yes, this will be boring, because this page is all about me, and, let's face it, you really don't care. But if you really want to know all about the girl behind Gumdrops and Saturdays, this is me. I'll be peppering this section with all kinds of links to make it a little more interesting. Who am I? I'm Azrynne. I'm 23 years old, and I'm a student at the State University of New York at Stony Brook (USB) SUNY Stony Brook. I'm a psych major, planning on being a therapist, but you know. I'm a musician first. I've written quite a few songs so far, working on my first album. My first and foremost musical influence is Tori. Tori has meant something special to me for about six years now. I'm 5'2" (just like Tori), I have naturally blonde, wavy hair, I'm very fair and I have grayish- blue eyes. I play the guitar and the piano, and I sing. I also like to paint, draw, crochet, tat, and, as you can imagine, I love computers. I'm very neat, and my friends often describe me as 'mellow' and 'laid back'. No, really. My musical background starts with The Beatles. I also listen to other great classic artists such as The Moody Blues, The Monkees, The Hollies, Cat Stevens, The Mamas and Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Donovan, and you get the idea. But I like some modern music too. I love Fiona Apple, Sheila Nicolls, Polly Harvey, Alanis Morissette, and Björk in particular, as well as Hole, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, The Cardigans, Duncan Sheik, and a bunch of other eclectic, good stuff. Let's see, what else? I used to be a vegetarian. It's a good day when the new Discover science magazine comes in the mail. I'm nearsighted. I'm kinda clumsy. I have a deep voice (for a tiny little woman). I have no sense of direction. I own way too much lip balm (On the subject, this site is really funny: Lip Balm Anonymous.) I also do other things, but they're the same things you do for fun: I go shopping, go to the movies, like that. What do I have to do with Tori? Not much, personally. I met Tori last year after her 10-9-01 show, but just briefly. I'm not involved in Tori's affairs any more than just this fan page I made, but that must account for somethin'. ;-) There's no "special" reason I like Tori so much, other than the fact that she's just magical. But I can say that because of Tori, I met my best friend. So, thanks Tori! I started listening to Tori back when Pélé came out. I saw the videos for CALS and Talula, and I wanted to know who that strange creetchah was who was singing these weird, yet compelling songs. So I listened to Pélé about seventy-three million times, (and it's still my favorite Tori album) and then I started listening to everything else Tori I could get my hands on: first LE, then UTP, then the Winter single, and some other stuff too. Then choirgirl came out. Wow. Just...wow. I tell you, when I heard 'Purple People', I just...wow. So I started combing record stores for any Tori singles I could find, and my collection started to grow. After I'd bought all the Tori EP's and singles that the record stores had, I started combing Ebay and spending my savings on Tori crap. And I was blown away by Venus too, and the live part has like all my favorites on it, especially the versions of Waitress and CFG. So, between Amazon, Napster, and Ebay, I have acquired quite a sizeable amount of Tori stuff. I have the Steve Madden shoes for RAINN in red. They sit on top of my cd tower like a trophy. I have the Tori-inspired lipstick and nailpolish (Hope) from Tony and Tina. I have a Tori checkbook cover. I have a Tori keychain and a RAINN keychain. I have Tori wallpaper and icons on my computer. It's almost sick. See all the Tori singles and songs I have here: My Tori Collection What am I trying to accomplish here? I just want to have an attractively arranged, comprehensive archive of Tori information on my site. Basically, I wanted to create a Tori site that had all the stuff I personally would look for in a Tori site. As far as me, personally, I just want to enjoy Tori and hopefully grow, or something. Tori really makes me think, about life in general, about how people feel about things, and why they do things, and....stuff. You know? Recommended Reading Tori recommends Owning Your Own Shadow by Robert A. Johnson, The Creation of Health by Caroline Myss and C. Norman Shealy, Goddesses in Everywoman: A New Psychology of Women by Jean Shinoda Bolen, and Addiction to Perfection by Marion Woodman. And I bet Tori would recommend Story of O too, since it's mentioned in Glory of the 80's. So that's me. I'm thinking about putting some of my dreams about Tori on here, but it's kind of weird to share your dreams with complete strangers, but hey, maybe I'll just edit them a bit. And someday, I'll put a picture of me on here, when I get a good one that's up to date. So enjoy my site, and enjoy Tori! -Ears With Feet Azrynne |
