PXY's Dedication to Jason
Jason Matthew Thrisk
1967-1996
The Story
Jason was born on Christmas day in 1967. He lived in Hermosa Beach, California. He fell in love with punk-rock music when he 1st listened to it and he knew that's what he wanted to play. He played in a couple of sloppy garage bands but then he wanted to play punk music with meaningful lyrics. He started Pennywise with Fletcher Dragge, present guitarist of Pennywise. It was in 1996 that Jasons drug addictions got the most of him. It was a tragic loss for friends, family, and fans. Jason left us before he should've but not without doing what he always wanted to do. He played the music he wanted to play and influenced many people. Pennywise dedicated the song Bro Hymn in memory of Jason Matthew Thirsk. The members of ProXimitY will never forget who you were, Jason, and we will always miss you as Pennywise's Bassist and friend! R.I.P Jason Matthew Thrisk 1967-1997. ~Dave
A Word From Justin
"Through 1995 and 1996, Jasons addictions were getting the best of him and eventually they took his life. But not before he had done what he set out to do since he was 14 years old. Jason made a real difference to the friends that knew and loved him and to the people that heard his songs and felt his emotions. His spirit and his music will live on forever and that is one thing he wanted more than anything else in the world." ~Justin Thirsk
