    Dorothy Cole´s opera career flourished as a Valkyrie, witch, goddess and dozens of other supporting roles with leading companies. She died of congestive heart failure. age - 71.

  • 26 FEB 2004 BOSHKOVA, Nelly (Mezzo-soprano)
    VIENNA, Austria (AP) — Bulgarian opera singer Nelly Boshkova has died in Vienna. The cause of her death was not disclosed. A mezzo-soprano who was a member of the Vienna opera since 1991. ~ age 54.

    Dennis Owens, for years the voice of the Washington DC classical radio station WGMS, emceed the evening, offering humorous (and occasionally apocryphal) tidbits of classical music notes.

    Nicholas (Niki) Goldschmidt, who founded music festivals across the country and what would become the Canadian Opera Company, died at his home. ~ age 95.

  • 04 FEB 2004 FRANCAIS, Jacques Francais (Dealer in String Instruments)

    Jacques Francais was a dealer in classical string instruments who with a glance could authenticate a Stradivarius worth millions and then often match it with its next player. ~ age 80.
