- 30 JAN 2004 HARTH, Robert (Carnegie Hall manager)
Robert J. Harth was the artistic and executive director of Carnegie Hall who in just two years managed the institution through an economic downturn. ~ age 47.
- 29 JAN 2004 HOLD, Trevor (English composer)
Hold was a rare example of a composer and writer with a national reputation whose artistic life was determined by strong ties with his local community.
Born in Northampton. ~ age 64.

Was an editor who published more than 40 music editions with major English and German publishing houses. Covering the period 1500-1900, these publications for Oxford University Press (OUP), Stainer & Bell, Novello, Henle and Bärenreiter, enhanced the repertoires of keyboard players, professional and amateur alike. b-17 FEB 1942. ~ age 61.

Arts Prize winner in '70, CSU professor of music.
Cleveland Plain Dealer notes- His works were played throughout the country, including
performances by the Cleveland Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra and Cleveland
Chamber Symphony. Born in Duluth, MN 21 OCT 1927. Died at his home in Cleveland Heights, OH. ~ age 76.
- 23 JAN 2004 LePORE, Michael (Chicago Lyric Opera founder)
Mr. Lepore died at his Northwest Side home.
Michael Lepore was a founding chorus master at Chicago's Lyric Opera. See

Michael Lepore had no one with formal musical training to work with when he first molded a group of devoted Chicago singers into one of the world's great choruses for the brand new Lyric Opera in 1954.
~ age 97.

Harry Fleetwood's deep voice and sly wit gave smooth, intelligent guidance to fans of all-night classical music radio in New York City for nearly three decades. ~ age 86.
- 14 JAN 2004 NIN-CULMELL, Joaquín (Composer and pianist)
Died in Oakland, California. Was composer of Spanish-style piano pieces. He was
the son of Cuban-Spanish composer Joaquín Nin y Castellanos and Danish-French-Cuban singer Rosa Culmell. ~ age 95.
- 10 JAN 2004 DAHL, Ole Steffen (Violin maker)
Dahl was a violinmaker and restorer who counted among his customers Josef Gingold, János Starker, William Primrose and Joshua Bell, died at his home in Ohio. ~ age 84.
- 04 JAN 2004 PLATT, Norman (Singer, Opera Director)
Norman Platt was a visionary whose determination created Kent Opera, a shining example of regional musical quality. Norman Platt born 29 AUG 1920. ~ age 83.
