As a youngster growing up 2 blocks from the New York Central
Airline Junction switch yard, I spent
many hours watching the
old steamers switching cars and making up the trains. Then there
was the Twentieth Century Limited that went through around
7 PM. Most day's my buddy and I went
down to see it.
Like most curious youngsters, we had to put coins on the track
to see how thin they would become.
