PRESENT
Spot On! Amateur Productions is no longer open to new members. Emma is now at Drama School and Laura is to find work in the West End. However, feel free to browse through the archives and sign our guestbook. | |
At the beginning of May 2000, while "busy"
ironing during their stint as dressers at The Phantom of the Opera at
the Alhambra Theatre in
Bradford, two young theatre enthusiasts were discussing their love of the
theatre and their plans for the future. Laura had already attempted
to stage a play at her university and Emma spoke about her ambitions to
put on a version of Little Women in her home. Emma had
written the script, designed the costumes, planned the set and already
cast the roles. Within minutes, they were planning their first production
meeting!
By their next ironing session, the two ambitious women had provisionally booked Skipton Town Hall but had not yet come up with a suitable name. An hour's brainstorming later, they had still not had any brainwaves until Emma said: "I'm sure we'll come up with something that's Spot On!" - corny, maybe; lazy, definitely but the name stuck and Spot On! was born.
