Q: I've beaten the game and there are only 18 levels. It appears that there should be 20; is there any significance to this?
A: There are indeed 20 levels. Once you beat all 18 levels on the Secret Agent difficulty, a 19th level, Aztec, will be activated. When you beat all 19 levels on the 00 agent difficulty, the 20th level, Egyptian is activated. When Egyptian is beaten on 00 agent, a new difficulty appears, 007. It is actually a level editor as opposed to a difficulty. Click the link for more info.
Q: I've have 23 cheats on my cheat menu and there is room for one more. Is there a 24th cheat?
A: NO! The contraversy never dies, but let me kill it for you now. There is no 24th cheat. You may have heard stories but these stem from pre-released versions of Goldeneye that did have a 24th cheat. They never made it on shelves though. "All Bonds" and "Line Mode" are the two frequently mentioned possibilities that have been rumored as the 24th cheat. Line Mode can be seen with Gameshark and All Bonds can never really be used at all. You can see pics of the old Bonds in the player select screen in multiplayer by using Gameshark codes, but they cannot actually be used.
Q: What is the deal with this supposed "island on dam"? A: When on a guard tower on the dam itself, you can see some sort of tower on the opposite side of the water if you zoom in with a sniper rifle. There is indeed a tower over there. This is a result of a misunderstanding of some sort during production. It was going to be part of a 00 agent mission objective but for whatever that never came to be. They never took the tower out of the level so there it stands. You can go and look at if you have a Gameshark by using the no clipping codes for Dam. There are exact instructions on how to this - you must have a Gameshark like I said.
Q: I cannot beat Egyptian. In the room where you get the golden gun, I do not know what I need to do so that those drone guns do not start shooting me. How do I get the golden gun?
A: You can only walk on certain floor tiles. There is a path you must take; if you make a wrong move the drone guns open (they cannot be destroyed) and you are left die. The exact path is specified in the Egyptian walkthrough. When you make it to the glass case it will open automatically if you took the correct path.
Q: Hey, I was messing around with cheats on Silo (Bond invisible namely) and I actually killed Ourumov at the end. But even more odd was that when he died I picked up a key and "Ourumov's briefcase" from him. What's going on??
A: This is another potential mission objective that never made it on shelves. Apparently there was going to be some objective involving his briefcase, but what can I say; it never came to terms. I think they really should have taken a little more time to fix this stuff, hehe. Another peculiar thing you may have noticed is that the "key" appears as a dot on your items menu in the start menu. I guess they never got around to programming it. Neither items do anything I assure you.
Q: The instuctions manual in the weapons section describes a gun called the "Spyder". I can't find this gun anywhere! Where is it??
A: Yet another late change that was never corrected; there is no Spyder gun......well kind of. It is actually the Klobb (you'll notice that Klobb isn't listed in the manual). The makers lost the rights to the name "Spyder" -late in production I'm assuming- so they had to change it. They named it after Ken Lobb, one of the guys heading production. I bet you alway thought "Klobb" was an unusual name for a gun....haha; I did.
Q: What's the deal with the pictures on the back of the box for GoldenEye 007 - there's an unusual looking gun and everything kind of looks different. Why is this?
A: These pictures are from a GoldenEye 007 that isn't the same as the one you and me play. Reason being....this one was still in production. There are unusual looking blood splatters in the pictures. Perhaps they were later deemed inapropriate? That's our guess. And that odd looking gun? It's a prototype KF7 Soviet. I'm not sure how these pictures made it on the box. So again, the makers of the game didn't "cover their tracks" very well, so to speak.
Q: Every single time I try to beat Train on 00 agent, Natalya just barely doesn't make it out before it explodes. What do I need to do so that she has enough time to escape?
A: This is one of the more difficult things to figure out on the game. Here is the key. Immediately after you shoot Ourumov (the guy with Natalya at gunpoint), you need to shoot Xenia in the background. This isn't easy - a metal door comes down in front of her and Trevelyan immediately after you shoot Ourumov. The key is to line yourself up so that Xenia is behind Ourumov. When Ourumov falls, the bullets will start hitting Xenia, hopefully. If done correctly she will say "Wait Alec, I'm hit." Subsequently it takes longer for her and Trevelyan to get to the helicopter and you're given extra time. I notice some sites calling this a "trick". But it's necessary for beating the mission!
Q: Is there going to be a sequel? A: Unfortunately no - we now can guarantee it. There will be (and I think it's already out) a "Tomorrow Never Dies" for Playstation. But it's unrelated to GoldenEye 007. If there are any more Bond games for the N64, they won't be produced by Rare. So they won't be the same and you won't care, haha. But if you like GoldenEye and don't care much for the Bond theme but just love the gameplay I have good news for you. Rare is releasing another first-person shooter for the N64. It's called Perfect Dark and it's going to be released very soon. I don't know if it will have mission objectives, but I do know that the guys at Rare do know what they're doing so start saving your money now - I don't doubt it will be a great game.
