A sampler of civic service.

The university Jesuits preach service to society as a life mission. And even before college Harv was predisposed to the joys of work but was raised to a tradition where self mattered less. Thus with some retrospective wisdom, his service orientation now consciously includes a more balanced love of self and others. In short, the crucifixion and sacrifice models have been replaced by the wholly spirit model. But that does not change the joys invloved in the following samples of civic service. However, the self v others imbalance was debilitating. Another view of imbalance could be that of handling stress badly, that is, beyond the self joys of work there was little stability or stature of self from the work progressions.
Included on this page - Toastmasters, on the radio, in the newspapers and more wil be uploaded.

   Toastmasters.
These are the closing days of the Mercury Marine job.

Practice in public speaking perhaps anticipated a job change. Thus I joined Toastmasters.

I don't recall not enjoying the house work. But I did have many things to maintain. And the walks were always family oriented. That once in a lifetime beard came from the July 1973 three week vacation and I didn't think that it lasted that long (at least five months).
1970s - Junior Achievement Program Director (I opened the Fond du Lac JA Center - no compensation involved)
   1973 - Club Secretary
   1974 - Educational Vice President
The activities of Toastmasters are rotated through the member list..
The Exchange Club had me give a prewitten speech of their choice.
I progressed quickly in the skills of public speaking, winning Best Speaker 4 Feb 1974.

My year 2000 generalized words of "life progression" are supported by that 1974 Educational VP Progress Report.
