connected to the world wide web and you don’t know which sites to visit. You
have checked your mails, don’t like to chat (& bored of pondy), so now
what? You want to have some fun but don’t know which sites to visit. Here’s
help……try www.bored.com.
This
site is a compilation of interesting websites, which may prove to be a decent
time-pass. There’s something for everybody in here.
For
those who are academically inclined, the site on “How things work” will prove
to be engrossing. “Optical illusions” is another very imaginative site and
contains a lot of famous and not-so-famous optical illusions.
The
music buffs can log on to “Band lists” and read statistics, life history and
latest gossip about their favorite band. They can also download the songs they
swear by. There’s something though which musicians wouldn’t like. “Twisted tunes” has some hilarious parodies
of well-known numbers.
For
the commoners, there’s a site called “If they mated” where predictions are made
about how the kids of celebrity lovers would look like. Sometime back, this
site featured Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi. The pic was awesome!
The
site “Hot or not” keeps you updated about the latest trends, ‘in-things’ and
‘not-so-in-things.’ ‘Life’s unanswered questions’ bombards you with questions
that leave you dumbstruck and amused. One of them is, “If you conduct an
experiment to prove Murphy’s Laws, will something go wrong?”
Plus,
there is a plethora of sites having jokes, cartoons, e-cards, riddles etc. They
too, make nice reading. Yet, my favorite is the site on anagrams where you can
even find out what your name may rearrange to. Another favorite is is
Deathclock..com. You fill a form and then they predict how many more seconds of
life you have. I rate it as a ‘must-see.’ If you are in the mood to play
pranks, you can mail bomb your friend. You can send them a mail through the
site, which says that they have been prosecuted for watching too much pondy and
action will be taken soon. There’s all this and much more!
The
downside of this site is that it is not designed well. It’s too much text and
too little graphics. Apart from that, it is amazing. So next time you are
connected and have nothing better to do, check out bored.com.

for the net-starved IIT junta, probably this situation will arise only during
the vacations!}
