EXTRA MILE

On that fine summer morning,

Lazing on the bed, slightly frowning,

I was talking to my inside,

And playing Jekyll & Hyde.

“All is taken care of, settled and done,

Nothing to rankle, not even one”

Happy ‘twas to be one in the crowd,

It was smug, stupid and loud.

“Wake up late, miss that plate,

Move around a bit, do something arbit,

Fart in the night, till morning light,

Such is fun or so I thought!”

“No, no,” pleaded the other, “not that way,

It casts a spell, leading you astray,

Why do you want, junta’s plight,

Give your heart and soul, there in was delight.”

Heart to a friend and soul to the mind,

Joy lies in the toil of the road, not the end,

And in appeasing your pal and having that smile,

You will have fun, walking the extra mile.
