Alak TV, working amazingly...

...for a piece of plastic, metal and glass casing that might blow up if electricity were to pass through it.
Since almost a month ago, when the TV broke down for some mysterious reason, it has not "enriched" our lives with some programmes which are "not detrimental to Indian culture", as the sadist profs who watch "Baywatch Hawaii" every Sunday would say. These days it is a great piece of modern art standing there, ever so regally showing its butt to the foolhardy cricket fans who missed the whole South African series.
Well…not for long though …we are buying a new one soon !!!!!!

What has happened to APA?

The second year junta have noticed with sheer horror, that APA no longer occupies the exalted status that it used to, last year among the freshies. Non-affiliated seniors have made a great collection of "educational material" on their computers but it is disheartening to note that freshies do not possess the vigour to continue with the honourable activities of APA and circulate orgiastic material among members.
What's the problem, freshies? 6 day week weakening your drive, is it?

Bharat Utsav reduced to a motley gathering of jobless people.

This year's Bharat Utsav was a flop in every sense of the word. There were hardly any non-IITian participants, and whats worse, hardly any IITian participants as well. Nevertheless Alak Lit-Soc got a boost because of Bharat Utsav winnings in a myriad of events from elocution to fine arts and music. The low turnout could be attributed to the " Start Up", entrepreneurship simulation game, which was going on in IC&SR simultaneously. Start Up, incidentally started with a bang and ended with a whimper, for the servers could not bear the huge number of participants and so the whole thing had to be abandoned half way.
Even the few girls who came for Bharat Utsav from outside were the non-male kind so hardly anything worth writing about as far as BU is concerned.

Dandiya in the SAC...makes a gujju's blood boil...

During the Fete, dandiya was organised in the SAC. A great experience for some who don't quite know how its done, but a total eye-stinger for a certain Gujju from Mumbai who couldn't help but wince in pain when he saw the macabre running, jumping, banging and histrionics which was supposed to be dandiya. Of course, the dancers are not to blame, surely most of them hadn't been to a dandiya raas before and were just having some fun. But our man wouldn't stand to reason, maintaining always that, " you don't need sticks to play dandiya...you don't say things like 'Now all guys should dance with the girls'...it sounds so pansoid ...you don't register names... so what if the dance floor is small....man ...they are not even hitting the sticks on the beat,..what the... they call this jingoistic belly pumping, stick thrashing, torso cracking ....dandiya...nooooooo...."
Chill dude. You haven't seen the IIT version of Bhangra yet.
