MISSING YOU

Last evening when I was ambling down the road,

I found myself by the lane, where once behind you I strode.

Now the sky has lost its blush, and I miss you,

Perhaps you were the one to unburden my load.

I couldn't forget you, for all I tried,

The warmth of your embrace hasn't yet died,

Your graceful steps and honeyed smile, still crystalline,

Even tears on my shoulder haven't yet dried.

The foliage no longer feeds the tree green,

The birdlings have left the nest, never to be seen,

Like the bird in misery and the denuded tree,

I feel abandoned, but happiness I feign.

The moon in the sky, too, is laughing at me,

It mouth gaping wider every night I see,

The ilent laughter of the unkindly kind one, tears me part

As if it were deriding my love for thee.

My eyes are crying, but I'm not,

My heart is bleeding, but it pains me not,

For all I believe in my love that's true,

You forever forget me not.
