Plaid Cymru.....................Working for Oxford Street and Rhyd yr helyg........................

Oxford Street, Nantgarw

Highway safety has been dramatically improved at Oxford Street thanks to a major investment in road safety by your Plaid Cymru Council.

The new scheme was shown to local residents at an exhibition arranged by Councillor Adrian Hobson. Several improvements suggested by residents were incorporated into the scheme.

The scheme extends from inside the Industrial Estate, past the entrance to Parc Nantgarw and across to the school. It uses new signage, road markings and build-outs to improve visibility and reduce vehicle speeds.

Residents parking on the "houses side" as well as the existing pull-in on the "allotment side" is more convenient and safer.

Unfortunately the road surface could not be renewed at the same time. This will happen in due course. We hope also that  the long-standing highway drainage problem may also have been fixed.

" It's been hard work getting a road safety scheme for Oxford Street.

It wouldn't have been possible without Plaid Cymru's improved financial management of the Council which has ensured there is money available for safety improvements of this kind.

One big success was the exhibition of the proposals. It's a more modern and inclusive arrangement than the old fashioned public meeting and it allowed local people to contribute to the scheme in a very positive way."
