Chapter 4
*morning*
“Rise and shine girls!” said my mom. I had turned off my alarm accidentally, of
course. “The one can shower up here and the other will have to wait. Nick’s getting
ready down there.”
“I’d better go check on him!” said Meg.
“You’d better keep your behind right here on this floor, girlie!” said my mom.
“Oh, man.”
“I call the shower first!” I said. “I’ll try not to take all the hot water.”
“Better not.” After everyone was ready we ate breakfast. I had my favorite,
pop-tarts! Meg didn’t eat anything, she never eats breakfast. Nick had cereal. Cheerios
to be exact.
“I’m sorry I don’t cook breakfast,” said my mom.
“That’s Ok, Mrs. Sara’s Mom.” said Nick. Nick was such a dork in front of my
mom. I think he was just trying to impress her. If only he knew what she really was like.
“I’ll take the girls to school today, Mrs., um, yeah,” said Nick.
“That’s great! I have to go into work early, as in, right now. See ya all. I love
you Sara.”
“See ya, mom.”
“Bye.”
“Check ya later!” (smart comment from Meg)
We drove the long drive to the hospital.
“We’re here,” I announced as we walked through the revolving doors.
“Could you tell us where we could find Brian Littrell, or is he still in his room?”
Nick asked the receptionist.
“As far as I know, he’s still in his room.” I don’t think she knew who Nick or
Brian was. She didn’t say anything about it. Or she was just being polite.
“Let’s go kids!” said Meg. “We’re off to see the Wizard.” She kept singing the
song and skipping till we reached the elevator, where me and Nick told her to shut the hell
up.
“Why?”
“Cause your annoying,” I said. “And this is a hospital, not a basketball game.” All
our friends and us had the tendency to start singing the song we sung all day at practice.
It changed everyday though. Once we reached the floor, we went strait to Brok’s room.
“Hey Frack,” Brian said as we entered. “Hey Sara, Hi Megan. Sara, Megan, I’d
like to introduce you to A.J., Kevin, and Howie.”
“Hey all!” I said as we shook hands and exchanged kisses.
“Hey.”
“Wassup?”
“Hello there.” The guys were so nice. They were really nice to me. I think Brian
had told them what happened.
“Don’t you want to see your Grandma Sara?” asked Brian.
“I will when your in surgery. I hope I can find her. I think they put on a whole
bunch of tubes in ICU.”
“That’s too bad,” said Howie. A nurse walked in.
“How are we all doing today?” She was really nice.
“I could be better,” said Brian.
“Ditto,” I said.
“I’m just gonna check everything out here quick, the doctor will be here soon to
get you. I hope your ready!” And that’s just what happened, the doctor walked in as
soon as she had left.
“Brian, hi, want to introduce me to your friends?”
“Yeah, this is Nick, Sara, Megan, Kevin, A.J., and Howie.” He said this while
pointing to each one of us. “My parents should be here soon. They said they’d come
before I went in. Where are they?” As soon as he said that, they walked in. “Oh, that’s
my mom and dad.”
“Hi Mrs. Littrell, Hi Mr. Littrell,” I said.
“You must be Sara,” she said. “Brian told us about you and your friend, Megan is
it?”
“That’s me!” Meg said.
“Hi”
“Hi Mr. and Mrs. Littrell”
The doctor interrupted the love fest by saying, “Well, Brian, are you ready? Cause
it’s time to head on over.”
“I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. Sara, come here a sec, won’t cha.” He handed me a
small folded piece of paper. “Read it later.” He was whispering now. “I love you.” He
kissed me. Not just a peck, but a full (and full of tongue) kiss, in front of everyone. Even
his parents. I wondered what he was doing. Evedentally, he really liked me, really, really
liked me. I should’ve pulled away, but I liked it. I really liked it. “Uh, See ya in a few.”
“Yeah, See ya.” I said as stunned as I could be.
“Let’s blow this popsicle stand. Get rollin’ doc,” he said. It sounded so corny it
was funny. You’ve gotta admit he is the comedian. He was the only one there that was in
a sort of good mood. It was wonderful how he tried to lift the spirits of everyone. But to
his dispair, it didn’t work.
