Moose-News

Moose Straw have split up!

Citing musical differences, the band officially dis, er, banded recently. Now I know this news may shock and demoralise some of you, perhaps to a point where you beleive there is no way out, that there is nothing left to live for, that the whole reason and point of your very existence has been cruelly snatched from your grasp. Nooooooooooo!! Ahem. What I meant to say is that beleive it or not, there is hope. You may or may not know, but there are other bands! Yes, from the likes of "Abba" (a funky four piece band) to the award winning "Buck's Fizz" and more modern counterpart "Steps" ther are still a few outposts for that magic we call music in our lives. Andy for those who fell their lives are incomplete without a sight of the beloved Luke or the remarkable Alex, they promise to be back with various watered down and sold out side projects, some names mentinned include "Willow" and "The Proper Band". Oh God! Please make Cheese Grater reform! I CANT COPE!!!! sorry.

Moose Straw Bio

The Moose Straw legacy began one fatefull October night, when two boys with a passion for music, witty social commentary and piss-poor cider decided to jam a version of the now legendary "Poor Me", written by founding member Luke "The Fluke" Stebbing. However, the subsequent recording session has gone down in history for proving that the anthem-for-a-new-generation "Poor Me" was not just a freak song, Moose could come up with the goods. Songs like the classic "Alex is a Lead Wonka" have been much scrutinised by music fans and critics alike, and Moose have been praised for the serious issues they tackle in their music. During this session there was also the famous cover "Wild Thing" said by many to be the best version ever recorded of this song, and also the cryptically titled "IMAATATGAMGGHNAOLWFH", the tragic tale of a night out that went awry. This exciting evening was the start of the experimental sound of Moose Straw, and the song "Moose Straw Soup" has been cited as an influence for the "inebriation leading to experimentation" musical theory, influencing the work of many other great artists including the band Radiohead on their recent opus, "Kid A". Sounds and tunings never before heard have become the mainstay of the Moose sound. But musical talent is only part of the magic of Moose Straw, their unrestrained banter is the main feature fans love, with talks centering around transvestites, eminem, eldorado, hamsters and the like, these boys will have you in stitches. But this isn't for the faint hearted! Forget Blink 182, forget the Vandals, they make the Exploited look tame! The boys plan some very exciting gigs in the coming months, where they will once again prove the quality and dedication of their musicianship. In the meantime, the Moose Straw EP is available on Napster now. By now I mean now, not when you're reading this. Well, it might be, it depends. On stuff. Oh, nevermind.

The Moose-Straw Sound

Some say Moose Straw are best described as underground-overground-wombling-free-anarcho-cider-sugar-rider-standup-handup-joke-yolk-cheesy-breezy-funk-punk-rock-folk-rock. Any attempts to define them in a shorter way have failed, but if you have any ideas for a new genre that fits the Moose, please mail the band so they can sort out their psychosocial moratorium. Moose have been praised for the way they bring together fans of different genres with their strange style. From stoner deftones loving skaters to straight-edgers to punks, and even your mum, all have been impressed and later obsessed by the moose straw legacy.
