MORBIDLY OBESE
A middle-aged, balding, morbidly obese white man
is standing in a room full of machines
weights, pulleys, bikes, equipment
and he is horrified beyond belief.
On every inch
of every wall
there are great shiny mirrors
and so he sees his image
projected back at him
at every conceivable angle
surrounded by the things he most detests,
so he has a nervous breakdown.
The people around him,
they laugh,
stand there laughing at him.
He collapses under the enormous weight
of his body and his mind
and in a nightmare he awakes,
to a world so real
where the voice of the people
has been muffled and muzzled by the media
which teaches that guns are fun
and no day is complete without murder
and the local news station
has to search really hard
to find some good news.
History is a biased beast
where heroes are ignored
where it seems that most people
go out of their way
to be assholes to one another.
SO THEN SUDDENLY
a second burst of energy
comes to the burdened man
the first second burst of energy he has ever had
and in a tidal wave of rage
he begins bashing muscular, fit and trim gym users
into a sapien salad of flesh and bones
and then they don't laugh anymore,
screaming, running away from him.
Then the cops come and take him away
but not before the news crew is there
to get a look at the oversized freak
so everyone at home can hear
about all the murder and madness
on the local news at dinnertime.
