THE END OF WCW?
On Monday, March 27, 2001, one chapter in the book of wrestling was closed, and a new chapter was begun. With millions watching around the world in anticipatio of the "Season Finale" Night of Champions Monday Nitro, WCW came through in the clutch to put on an excellent last show on a Turner-controlled station. Booker T united the U.S. Title and World Heavyweight Title, Palumbo and O'Haire retained the World Tag Team Titles. Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman defied the odds to win the Cruserweight Tag Team Titles, and Shane Helms held on to the Cruserweight Title. And then the two biggest names, and dare I say greatest champions, in World Championship Wrestling, Ric Flair and Sting, battled a emotional match that ended with a handshake and an embrace...and all in the first hour. And as the nine o'clock hour approached, a page was closed on Turnner owned WCW. And as the 10 o'clock hour opened up, a new chapter in wrestling history was written. A new WCW, no longer owned by Ted Turner, but now by Vince McMahon. In a FIRST EVER simulcast RAW and NITRO, Vinny Mac went on to further an angle with Shane and WCW. But in reality, wWhat will come from this McMahon-owned WCW? What will happen to all the greats of WCW? Who will jump from WCW to the WWF? Who will go from the WWF to WCW? Only time would tell as this historic night in wrestling ended just as it began...with all the answets, yet so many questions...
