Hi, My name is Trudy aka Babbles. About 7 years ago I was ask if I had ever heard of Lupus. Back then I had never heard of it. Since then I have learned alot about it. I know it changes your way of life. You learn to live with it from day to day. Some people more than others. I am one of the lucky ones who do not have major problems associated with Lupus. So I was having trouble understanding where some of my problems were coming from if not from Lupus. So I found me a new doctor who was able to tell me not only do I have Lupus, I have Fibromyalgia as well. So that helped open my eyes to alot of my fatigue. So now I am on a new journey. You just never know what life holds. It can change in the blink of an eye.

Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease which causes inflammation of various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints,blood and kidneys. The body's immune system normally makes proteins called antibodies to protect the body against viruses, bacteria and other foreign materials. These foreign materials are called antigens. In an autoimmune disorder such as lupus, the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances (antigens) and its own cells and tissues. The immune system then makes antibodies directed against "self". These antibodies, called "auto-antibodies," react with the "self" antigens to form immune complexes. The complexes build up in the tissues and can cause inflammation, injury to tissues, and pain. More people have lupus than AIDS, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, sickle-cell anemia and cystic fibrosis combined. LFA market research data show that between 1,400,000 and 2,000,000 people reported to have been diagnosed with lupus. ( Study conducted by Bruskin/Goldring Research, 1994.) For most people, lupus is a mild desease affecting only a few organs. For others, it may cause serious and even life-threatening problems. Thousands of Americans die each year from lupus-related complications.

What is fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by aching and pain in muscles, tendons and joints all over the body, especially along the spine. There are measurable changes in body chemistry and function in some people with fibromyalgia. These changes may be responsible for certain symptoms. However, fibromyalgia is not associated with muscle, nerve or joint injury; inadequate muscle repair; or any serious bodily damage or disease. Also, people who have fibromyalgia are not at greater risk for any other musculoskeletal disease.

Dancing With the Wolf

Sometimes my Dance is very fast,
Sometimes my Dance is slow;
It all depends upon the day,
And how my symptoms go.

Sometimes the Dance is an Irish Jig,
When my energy is high;
Most of the time the Dance is a waltz,
When the fatigue is drawing nigh.

Sometimes the Dance slows to a shuffle,
And I let the day slide by;
Some days I don't Dance at all,
But lay in bed and cry.

I do many kinds of Dances now,
That the Wolf has become my partner;
My hope is that, as the steps are learned,
I will learn to Dance much smarter.

The Wolf has slowed my Dancing down,
And I take the time to discover,
My Lord, My Strength, My Jesus,
Is a partner like no other.

I lean on Him when times are bad,
And I know that He can see;
The three of us are partners now,
Jesus, the Wolf, and me.

Whether the day is very good,
Or full of pain and strife;
I thank Jesus every day
For this gift - The Dance Of Life.
