Lodging

There are three main types of lodging to choose from in South Maui: hotels, condominiums and single-family homes. It's hard to go wrong with any of these - it's simply a matter of personal preference. Hotels offer more services and amenities, but lack kitchens. Condos usually have full kitchens and living areas, but often requrie 3 to 5 night minimum stays. If you can get a group together and are staying for the whole week, you should strongly consider renting a house for privacy, roominess and value.
A list of recommended hotels can be found below. For condominiums, Destination Resorts (1-800-367-5264 or check out website listed below) has the best condominium rentals in the area. They handle the following condo complexes:

1 - Elua Village : Popular beachfront condos with 1 and 2 Bedroom units available
2 - Ekai Village: located on the hillside above Keawakapu Beach with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units available
3 - Ekolu Village: located near the tennis center and golf courses
4 - Polo Beach Club: Highrise located on Polo Beach.

If you think you might stay for the whole holiday week (which was our general idea when we chose Thanksgiving) and you can get a group together, you should consider renting a house. Most rental agencies require 7-night minimum stays. The best resource I have found is www.TropicalVillaVacations.com. In fact, we rented the house we are staying at from them - check out the Hokulea House on the website. Our rental if from Sunday, November 24th through December 1st. They are friendly and professional. Another good agnecy is Bello Realty (1 800 541 3060). If you have any questions or need help with your accommodations, please feel free to email Heidi at hbloom@wyrick.com.
