The Cunningham Family began on a plantation East of Lancaster SC with a slave name Benjaman who took the name of Cunningham as his last name.

Benjamin had a son name Albert Cunningham

Albert Cunningham had a daughter name Emily.

Emily married a man name James Harrison

One of Emily's daughters was name Bessie

Bessie married a man name Adam Rushing.

HARRISON

The Harrison Family started with slavery in Virginia The ture name of the slave that fathered Ed Harrison is not known.

Ed Harrison the son of a slave walked from Virginia To Union County NC because of the reported good cotton crops.

His wife was named Judith. They purchased a small track of property off of what is now Potter Rd.

He helped start Mt. Zion Church, the church was started as a Brush Arbor across the road from where the Church is located today on New Town Rd.

Ed and Judith had 3 son's, Jerry, James and Willis.

James married Emily Cunningham and one of their children was Bessie Harrison who married Adam Rushing.
