A WORD FOR TODAY

CONFORM

This word in Rom. 12:2 is the translation of sunschematizo which means 'to assume [to pretend to possess -feign- to represent by a false appearance of] an outward expression does not come from within and is not representative of one's inward nature, but which is assumed from without.' Paul is exhorting the saints not to assume an outward expression which is patterned after the world, which is assumed from without, and which dies not come from nor is it representative of their inner renewed heart-life. In short, he exhorted them not to * masquerade in the garments of the world**

The word 'conformed' in Rom. 8:29 is from sunmorphoomai which means "to bring to the same outward expression as something else, that outward expression proceeding from and being truly representative of one's true inward nature." The saints are predestined to be brought to the same outward expression as that which now is true of the Lord Jesus. He in His glorified humanity gives outward expression of His radiant beauty of character as the spotless, sinless, wonderful Son of God. The saints glorified will have an outward expression like that of the Lord Jesus, which expression proceeds from and is truly representative of their divine natures. The same word is used in Phil 3:10 where it is translated "made conformable to." Paul's desire was that he would be brought to the place where he would become, both as to his inner heart life and also as to the outward expression of the same, like his Lord in His life of death to self and service to others.

CONFORM
extra notes

And be not 'conformed' [fashioned] according to this world [literally, age, aion].This present age, Paul calls "evil," declaring in Gal.1:4 that our Lord Jesus Christ "gave Himself for your sins. that He might deliver us out of this present evil age (aion) according to the course of this world [literally, "according to the age (aion) this world- order" - cosmos] "according to the prince of the power of the air' Eph 2:12 Here you have the cosmos, or world order, since Adam sinned; and since then each particular phase of the Satanically arranged and controlled world-order now on, called the aion. I Cor. 7:31, this is called the "fashion," -literally, scheme, of this world-order. ['Fashioned' is literally, schemed-together-with. It is the very word of ICor.7:31 scheme [Greek, schema}, made into a verb, with the conjunction along-with (sun) , for prefix. The devil will rope you into his "scheme," unless you surrender your * body to God and be delivered by Him.] "We know," writes John, "that we are of God, and the whole world [literal, world order], lieth in the evil one." It is necessary to grasp intellectually this fearful state of things, in order to obey the apostle's exhortation not to be conformed to it: a world order without **(on the outside of) God!

We read that Cain "went out from the presence of Jehovah and builded a city" Gen 4:16, which became filled with inventions -"progress": music, and arts; it's whole end being to forget God, to get along without **(being on the outside of) Him. And ever since, Satan has developed this fata 1 world-order, with its philosophy,(man's account of all things,-but changing from time to time); in science ever seeking to eliminate the supernatural of God); its government (with man exalting himself); one's amusements (adapted to blot out realities from the mind); and its religion [to soothe man's conscience and allay (to quell, calm) fears of judgment].

Newell -Romans Verse By Verse

* In the body is the soul and spirit, therefore to surrender your body, you surrender that which is in the body.

**In God, does everything consist. He is full and fills with mercy, for God IS mercy. Nothing can exist when fully apart from Him. So to be apart from Him, is to be empty, or void. One, then is void (or empty of the fulfilling peace) that mercy brings. Apart, or on the outside of Him, is a place of emptiness, never filling or being filled or fulfilled...thus void, empty, and this is called sin (the place of being empty of His mercying power). This is where Cain lived, apart from God, separated. Many have gone the way of Cain Jude v.11
