RENT is a musical that hit Broadway less that four years ago and completely shook it. It is about a group of friends celebrating life even when AIDS is threatening many of them. It includes many characters whose lives or acts are considered taboo: an SM dancer, a transvestite. It doesn't preach but still brings out its message- that there is 'no day but today'- in two and a half hours of amazing music and haunting storyline. It has won four Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Book and Lyrics, Best Music, and Best Actor. RENT has also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as numerous other awards. I recently saw it and it totally took my breath away. This page is going to be a simple homage to what I believe is an amazing show.
