 Elements and Modes (also known as Qualities) Make up Your Basic Nature or temperment
THE 4 ELEMENTS ARE FIRE~~EARTH~~WATER~~AND AIR
The elements and modes/qualities are energies in an individual's natal chart that reveals how they will act or re-act toward their environment, relationships and interactions with others.
 The following signs make up the different elements:
Fire~~Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius~~The fire signs are action oriented. They are leaders, bold, move fast and seek goals.
Air~~Gemini, Libra and Aquarius--This group is always intellectual, they seek knowledge, and they remain emotionally detacted.
Earth~~Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn~~These are the signs that are known for their practicality. The earth signs are grounded and down to earth. The main course they take is to have "roots" and security.
Water~~Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio--This group is ultra-sensitive, emotional and quite moody. They hide their feelings better than any of the other signs. They are the "care-takers". Family and home life is their main goal.
The modes/qualities are made up of:
The signs of Aries, Capricorn, Cancer and Libra make up the cardinal group. They are action, and they have pioneering qualities.
The signs of Leo, Scorpio, Taurus and Aquarius make up the fixed signs. This group has a fixed personality, stable and seeks security.
The signs of Gemini, Sagittarus, Virgo and Pisces make up the mutable signs. The mutable signs are mental, adaptable and flexible.
