Bay Side Singers On Line
of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire
Bay Side Singers is a community chorus that started in
late April of 1998, and we have had three seasons
since then. Our programs reflect
the image of a down-home chorus, as one audience
member put it, "We came to hear
our friends and neighbors sing something."
Friends and neighbors is really what we're all
about. Our main goals in
keeping the organization going are that we:
1. Have fun
2. Have fun singing some cool songs
3. Have fun by meeting people who also like to
sing
4. Have fun rising to the challenge of some of
those cool songs
5. Have fun presenting them, once fairly well
polished,
to folks who will have fun listening
Membership is open to any singer who wants to
be a part of this group and
who is of High School age or above.
If you are coming to
Wolfeboro
any time soon, contact us and come join in
the fun!
Our programs focus on music of the following
categories: 1) folk, 2)
light classical, 3) Broadway/ silver screen,
4) nostalgia, 5) patriotic,
and finally, 6) sing-along material.
Our rehearsal home is St. Cecilia's Church on South Main Street,
Wolfeboro.

the church, click

During the summer months, we sometimes perform at Wolfeboro's prime spot,
the town's
Bandstand, pictured above.
Here we sing to audiences in lawn chairs and bug
spray, as they sip lemonade from Bailey's
Bubble or enjoy an ice cream cone. During the
winter, we
explore area churches, searching for the
right combination of acoustics, ambience and
size. Lawn chairs are unnecessary during
the winter months.
We have been accompanied by two area pianists
during our short life, the first is Amy Jones
and the second is the Rev. Dr. Peter Roussakis.
A big thank-you to both for your work and your
willingness to help out!
We also had assistance from the band
Enchanted Mind,
namely, guitarist, Bob Walker and bassist, Pete Bradley. We also
had some flute help (and page turing help, too!) from
Megan Brady, who has also been seen around town calling
a contra dance or two.
Our conductor is Scott Lounsbury,
who also teaches music at Belmont Middle and
High Schools in the
Shaker Regional
School District, and is the Music Director
for St. Cecilia's (who, by the way, is the
patroness of song... always knew we had a bit
of divine guidance). He came to
Wolfeboro in 1991 to direct another area
chorus, and fell in love with and married
one of his second sopranos.
They now reside in Wolfeboro with their son
and their Welsh corgi, Abby.
Due to a number of factors, Bay Side Singers will be taking a sabbatical.
Stay tuned in to our page for further details, but in the
meantime, please email us (see email address at the bottom) and let us know you're out there and are
concerned with the future of this organization!

Below are links to MIDI files of songs we are rehearsing
or have rehearsed, for use by members
to practice at home.
These are intended for rehearsal use only, many have amazingly
hideous flaws. If the reader wishes to link to a place where
there are far better rehearsal midi files for choral music, try
here:

What do I do with this MIDI stuff???
It depends on what kind of browser (and computer) you have. Usually, if
you click on the song name (with your left mouse button), you can listen
to the song while you are on line. To download the midi file for a song,
click on it with your RIGHT mouse button, and a box will pop up asking
you where to save it. At this point you have to find a folder to keep
the file in, or make a new folder. You can repeat the process to save
all the songs in the same folder. After you go offline, you can find
your way to the folder, open it, and (left) click on a song. The
computer should play the song. (If you're using a Mac, then there is no
right mouse button; I think that you hold down the shift key while
clicking to download.)
If the music won't play on- or off line, maybe the computer isn't set up
for midi music (most newer computers are). Usually if there's something
wrong, an error message will pop up; that might give you (or me!) an
idea of what's wrong.
If you want to play with tempo, play individual parts, and so forth, you
need a fancier midi player program. Click HERE to download POGHO, a full-featured
MIDI player, which allows you to select voices, instruments, and tempo. It's shareware, and
costs only $18 if you like it. Send email for more info on how to install and use.
