Please also note that portions of this site are currently being renovated. Hello, my name is Rick LaRiviere, and I own and operate Talon Outfitters. I've spent my whole life hunting and fishing, and anything else that falls in the "fun outdoor things to do in New England" category.
A variety of links have been created on the pages of this site which allow access to other pages by clicking on the words which are higlighted in red. At the very bottom of this home page you'll find links to the other pages of this site, as well as recommended accommodations, and some helpful links to help you plan your North Country vacation.
Whether you choose float tube fishing or canoe and kayak fishing a tranquil trout pond, or walk/wade fly fishing the productive trout/salmon streams and rivers in the northern New Hampshire area, Talon Outfitters has an angling package to fit most every need. Streamside lunches are provided with guided full day fly-fishing trips. Please ask for details when booking.
Of special interest to wanna-be, entry level, novice or intermediate anglers, we conduct a weekend fly fishing school on the Upper Androscoggin River on the third weekend in June. This Fly-Fishing Seminar (as we refer to it) is timed to coincide with the Androscoggin's famed "alderfly" hatch. This affords the participant with prime opportunity to obtain and practice newly obtained knowledge and skills over actively feeding trout and salmon. Please contact us for more information. The northern NH woods have much to offer the serious hunter. Fully guided hunts are offered for black bear, whitetail deer, wild turkey, and coyote, while semi guided hunts for moose are also offered. Black bear, moose and coyote are particularly prolific in our area. We cater to bow, blackpowder, and conventional firearms hunters. Please note we offer custom hunts by providing additional services to meet your needs and desires, and make your hunt as comfortable and convenient as possible. Having the largest and most numerous mountains of the New England region, northern NH is the unrivaled leader in fall foliage viewing. It's the "leaf peeping" capital of the world! The area's vast softwood stands lend their various shades of green to the brilliant reds, oranges, yellows and golds of the surrounding hardwood ridges to create the most incredibly breath-taking panoramas ever to be seen. There's simply nothing like it on earth. We have put together a variety of services to enhance the beauty of this very special time of year. Lunches are provided with all full day Scenic Adventures.
Let's begin with scenic canoe trips on the picturesque Androscoggin River. Many sections of this fine river are remotely located in the White Mountain National Forest, and Great North Woods areas. Route 16 refuses to seperate itself from the river, and for good reason. The views along the river are simply spectacular. We also offer backcountry canoe, or canoe camping trips on area lakes and ponds. And if you're more of a landlover, we offer guided day hikes to various vantage points which offer equally beautiful views not only of the fall foliage, but in the spring and summer seasons as well. Finally, if you're the hearty type, we offer guided cross country ski or snowshoeing excursions. There's something special about being in the NH forest after a fresh snowfall. Talon Outfitters was formerly located in the town of Shelburne, in the White Mountains and Great Northwoods regions of northern New Hampshire. Due to the economic downturn, I was forced to leave NH's North Country in 2007, and I temporarily suspended operations at that time.
I'm currently considering relocating to Montana, and begin guided fly-fishing as soon as possible on the very fishy waters of the southwestern and south-central portions of Montana, and possibly on Idaho's Snake River as well.
Please stay tuned and come enjoy some of the finest angling in the nation. The following pages of this website will give you an overview of the guided activities we formerly offered in New Hampshire. I'm hopeful that we can resume all of these activities in Montana, with the addition of hunting for mule deer, elk, upland game birds, etc.
