April 26, 2008 - Saturday

We did manage to get to the weenie dog races after all. You can't even imagine
the number of daschunds all gathered together for this one event! Long-haired,
short-haired, brown ones, black ones, standard size, minituare sized, weenies,
weenies, weenies!

"This annual country fair has become an extremely popular spring event,
which began with Pet Parade, followed by the now nationally known
"Wiener Dog Races". There were qualifying races on Saturday and Sunday,
culminating in the run for the roses Sunday afternoon. There was live
entertainment throughout the weekend, along with food, arts, & craft vendors."

"Buda is a relaxing, friendly town and a great place to live, work, and visit.
Folks in Buda enjoy the advantages of nearby Austin while celebrating
the tranquility and high quality of life of a small hometown. With both
a rich historical heritage and quality, well planned growth, Buda combines
the best of the past, the present, and the future! Main Street has retained
its "olde time" look and Buda is well known for its antique downtown
shopping in the original buildings."

We also got around to visiting Cabella's outfitters. I must say that although they
have an impressive collection of stuffed species, I can't say that I was altogether
happy to see some of my fellow animal bretheren had to give up their own lives for
this collection. However, upon further investigation of their website, I have found
that they contribute a lot to conservation work. And the way things are going with
out planet, I guess if this is the only way some child will get to see some of these
species, then I'm sure all these animals will forgive having to give up their lives.

So if you're interested in some of the conservation work being done by Cabella's or
to maybe even help out, visit this portion of thier website: Cabela's
