Aria Chorus is member #303 of the Polish Singers Alliance of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization
The Aria Chorus #303 of the Polish Singers Alliance of America, established in 1964, is in its forty-fifth season of concerts. A community choir, Aria focuses on music by Polish composers with a repertoire variety ranging from seasonal religious music of Christmas carols and Lenten liturgical music to contemporary arrangements of folk songs and secular classical compositions. We aim to serve the Polish-American community and raise awareness of Polish culture in the American community.
The Polish Singers Alliance of America was founded in 1889 to promote Polish culture in America through song. Altogether, in the United States and Canada, there are chartered 46 singing groups in 6 extant districts. Active districts are (#1) Chicago, (#3) Cleveland, (#4) Detroit, (#6) Syracuse, (#7) New York Metropolitan, and (#9) Buffalo and Canada.Dayle Vander Sande, Musical Director of Aria, is a native of Clifton, New Jersey and attended Oberlin College and Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio. A classical singer, Dayle gives voice recitals, sings opera and is an actor on New York's Off and Off-Broadway stages. Encouraged by his Polish heritage from maternal ancestry (his mother's maiden name is 'Halka,' which coincidentally is the title of the most famous Polish opera, by Stanislaw Moniuszko!), he wishes to champion Polish classical song through his own singing among the classical music community. He holds the office of Assistant General Musical Director in the PSAA Central Administration. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Artists International and The Field.
Aria always welcomes new members to the choir. Rehearsals take place Wednesday nights, 8:00 pm at the Polish Peoples Home "Cracovia", 196 Main Avenue, Wallington, New Jersey. Knowledge of Polish is not essential, as we will train, and rehearsals are conducted primarily in English. Anyone over 16 years of age with a love of singing may join. Please contact Dorothy by phone at (201)935-2807 or by email.
