STONEY- The Love Goes On....
On July 28th, 1999, Stoney, our Beloved Greyhound left this earth.
He was a "Gentle Giant", incapable of ever being cruel or harmful to any living soul.
He loved other animals...especially human ones. Stoney also loved children, and I always felt so guilty for not having any children for him to play with.
But in his last moments, as he was going to the animal hospital, something truly touching occurred.
He was "resting on the front steps of the house" as he could not make it walking down the steps without difficulty because of the cancer that had worn him physically.
A little girl, who was walking by the house with her family, saw him, immediately ran over to Stoney and gave him a hug and a kiss.
How and if she realized that this would be one of his final memories on this earth, is a mystery to me. But I thank heaven that he was blessed with this compassion from a child.
