The Insulator arrived in NJ Broken It was not packed well and the Box was destroyed.
Closeup of the Steel plate with the Broken porcelen inside. I was thinking Of Chipping out the broken porcelen and Grinding down the other half flat and Epoxying the larger section Of porcelen back into the steelplate. suggestions welcome.
here you can see that even if I gring flat the Bottom. I will still have aprox 5-6 inches of porcelen left to salvage the Insulator. recommendations on type of epoxy to use most welcome. I was thinking Of PC-7 its the strongest stuff I know .
Here are 2 Pictures Of the Top steel Plate after spending 4 hours with a Chisel and hammer safetyu glasses and a scuba air tank were used so I could not Breath in any dust. I will attempt to use a Wirewheel to Clean out the small remaining Fragments. Now If I can Grind down the other half.
I did Not get a chance to take photo's But I got lucky My Source for this insulator had a second one which he shipped me.. and It arrived Intact.. I finally finished reparing the broken insulator. and Filled it with mineral oil to keep out moisture. I now have 2 Base insulators. If I can find a second Tower base section maybe this will become a 2 tower 160 meter Vertical array?
